About me
Hello, my name is Trey Hyman and I am an 8th grade US History teacher at Ousley Junior High. I am thrilled about teaching and investing in the students that are from my neighborhood. I believe that teaching is the most rewarding profession there is.
Education
I grew up north of the DFW metroplex in a small town, called Aurora. It’s so small that it shares a zip code with the neighboring town, Rhome. I attended schools in the Northwest ISD. After grade school I attended Arlington Baptist College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies and Bible. I received my teaching certification from iTeachTexas and performed my “Student-teaching” practicum at Ferguson Junior High. I continue to attend workshops and seminars to better grow and develop my skills as a teacher.
Interests/Hobbies
I would consider myself an avid snorkeler, fisherman, and camper. When I’m not outside enjoying the great outdoors, I like playing my guitar, serving at my church, and hanging out with friends.
Why Teaching?
I decided to become a teacher because of the impact of two specific teachers I had in grade school. They both were enthusiastic about the subject they taught, but above that, they loved every one of their students. It was evident in the way they taught and cared for their students and, as a student, it made me appreciate and value my education. Their dedication to providing students the highest quality of education and their commitment to care for each student was the primary influence for me to pursue this profession. Now that same opportunity weighs in on me; to invest in the next generation of students and their education. I hope that I can be just as impactful to my students as they were to me.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that everyone can learn. I think that the teacher can better achieve this goal by intentionally providing various resources to assist the students. First, the classroom should be an inviting environment that is tailored to reaching the fullest learning potential. Second, the teacher and curriculum should be learner-centric. Students and their education should be the primary focus as a teacher. Last, there needs to be a consistency with well-structured classroom policies and procedures everyday in class. I believe that if students are exposed to these three essentials, they will be ready to learn.
